The theme for the Academic Program is The Global Perspective of Beads and Beadwork: History, Manufacture, Trade and Adornment. This broad theme is designed to elicit many proposals with varied topics all related to beads and beadwork.Where and when will it be?The International Bead and Beadwork Conference will take place in Istanbul, Turkey 22-25 November 2007. Kadir Has University will be hosting the Academic Sessions, Workshops and Bead Bazaar as well as the private exhibitions in its newly opened �Rezan Has Museum� (www.kadirhas.edu.tr). Private and State Museums will be opening bead related exhibitions during the event.ToursA feature of this conference will be a group of tours to well-known regions of Turkey that will focus on beadwork and handicrafts. The tours will provide an insight into the village life and virtually extinct nomadic lifestyles that created the cultures responsible for the beadwork found in Anatolia. Additionally, tours are being planned to countries that have strong beadwork traditions. The planning for these tours is still underway.Rezan Has Museum.Rezan Has Museum is a museum complex by itself for having a Byzantine Cistern which was built in the 11th century and an Ottoman bath remnants dated back to 16th century.
